RAY KING (AMERICAN)
Dichroic Glass and Stainless Steel
Student Wellness Center
This work was created from 2,257 individual pieces of glass
threaded onto and suspended by stainless steel cables at
precise intervals to create a three-dimensional pattern. The
sunlight from the eastern window strikes the glass elements,
which contain a dichroic laminate film. The film is designed
to split light wavelengths into a spectrum of colors. These
colors change from a deep violet blue to cyan and may reflect
a brilliant gold hue based on the time of day and the viewer’s
position in relation to the work.
