ROBERT BRUNO (AMERICAN)
Steel
College of Architecture
This sculpture was created by a man who believed that one
person could change the lives of many. His dedication to
inspiring others through education and art was surpassed
only by his love of passing knowledge onto others. While
Robert Bruno may be gone, the legacy he left behind enriches
the world and those whose lives he touched.
Bruno, a former professor in the College of Architecture, is
best known for the creation of the Steel House in Ransom
Canyon. This untitled sculpture, a fusion between art and
architecture, is said to have been the inspiration for the
Steel House and one of his few remaining sculptures. It was
moved to the Texas Tech campus in late January 2015. The
presence of one of Bruno’s works at the Architecture building
serves as a memorial to Bruno and provides an educational
site for students.
