Standing at 23 feet tall, the monumental scale of this work
catches the eye from a distance; yet upon viewing up close, the
work provides another textural experience. Lapstrake’s vertical
layers of stacked, rough-hewn pink granite blocks are linked
by three polished rectangular slabs. The natural patterning of
the torn, speckled granite contrasts with the strong, polished
geometry of the rectangular bands.

The design for Sine Wave is inspired by curved lines describing
the golden section and the Fibonacci series. These proportional
systems describe logarithmic and equiangular growth patterns
found throughout the natural world, forming a basis for
scientific study and understanding. This system of unequal
parts forming complimentary opposites intentionally relates to
computer processes as well.
