Angelo State Women’s Tennis Program Returns Home

February 21, 2018 | Angelo State University Athletics

For the first time in over 30 years, Angelo State University Rambelles Tennis took the court for a match at home on Feb. 10.

ASU announced in January of 2017 that it would resurrect women’s tennis in fall 2017 after the program was eliminated due to budget cuts in the mid-1980’s; the last year the Rambelles played tennis was 1986.

Tennis is the ninth women’s athletics program offered by ASU, joining volleyball, softball, indoor and outdoor track and field, cross country, basketball, golf and soccer. ASU offers six men’s sports with football, basketball, baseball, indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country.

Nineteen-time American Southwest Conference Coach of the Year and national championship coach Chris Bizot leads the revitalized program.
