Dinner with 10 Red Raiders
Texas Tech students and alumni come together as strangers and leave as friends.
Alumni Highlights
The Dinner with 10 Red Raiders program, a Student Alumni Association initiative implemented in February, pairs 10 Texas Tech students with a Texas Tech alumnus or widely-recognized community member. The goal of this program is to build and strengthen the Texas Tech community by creating an informal environment for Texas Tech alums to make connections with current students.
By recruiting local alumni to host dinners in their homes, bonds will be established between generations and Texas Tech will hopefully become a smaller, friendlier place.
Jeff Klotzman, a 1976 graduate of Texas Tech with a bachelor’s in journalism and a 2000 graduate with a master’s in mass communications, hosted a dinner in his home with his wife, Kim, a 1977 Texas Tech graduate with a bachelor’s in business administration. Jeff Klotzman is currently a news anchor for FOX34 while Kim Klotzman is a development officer for Institutional Advancement at Texas Tech.
Curt Langford, a 1990 graduate of Texas Tech with a bachelor’s in public relations and a 1997 graduate with a master’s in interdisciplinary studies, hosted a dinner in his home with his wife, Jill, a 1990 Texas Tech graduate with a bachelor’s in elementary education. Curt Langford is currently the Regional Vice President of Balfour College Division and Jill Langford is a teacher in Lubbock ISD at Overton Elementary.
While the Klotzmans and the Langfords chose to host events in their homes, hosts are given the opportunity to hold the dinner at the location of their choice. For example, some interest has surfaced in hosting the dinner at a local restaurant. Dinners can also range from a catered affair to a backyard barbeque.
In addition to a nice meal, the program offers participants an excellent opportunity to make new friends and valuable connections. Texas Tech students and alumni come together as strangers and leave as friends.
