“I think the herring scholarship and what it means for a student to be able to go to Vietnam, a country that had such an impact on American history/culture - for a family to allow us to use those funds in such a way to really understand what the Vietnam War was all about is just a terrific thing.  When you think about all the schools in the u-s that teach the Vietnam war, I don't know very many that allow students to get the kind of financial support that enables them to go on a trip like this.”
