Core Mission:
Partnering to create sustainable engaging campus environments across the TTU System to foster learning, collaboration, and research to support recruitment and retention.
Texas Tech University - Academic Sciences Building
The end of the Summer 2024 session marked a significant milestone with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of TTU’s Academic Sciences Building (ASB). Construction began on December 1, 2021 and reached completion on August 1, 2024. Spanning 131,411 square feet, this facility represents a significant investment in the future of scientific research and education at the university. As a cutting-edge facility, it will serve as a vital hub for fostering innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence across multiple disciplines, including Geosciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Psychological Sciences. With state-of-the-art laboratories and modern learning spaces, the building will enhance the university's ability to attract top-tier faculty and students, drive impactful research, and prepare the next generation of scientists and educators. This investment solidifies TTU's commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing the complex challenges of our time through science and technology.
Angelo State University – Aviation
Angelo State University's new Aviation Program Training Facility is a state-of-the-art, 14,400 square-foot facility designed to elevate the university's aviation program to new heights. The building will feature modern classrooms, advanced simulator rooms, and open study/work cubicles to foster collaborative learning. Additionally, the facility will house offices for the program director, chief pilot, and instructors, creating a hub for both students and staff. A main lobby with a recruiting lounge will ensure a comfortable and professional environment for all. This new space will provide the resources needed to prepare the next generation of aviation professionals.
Midwestern State University - Bolin Hall
The Bolin Hall Renovation and Expansion project represents a substantial investment in academic infrastructure at Midwestern State University. The Bolin Hall Renovation and Expansion project, which began construction on December 18, 2023, embodies our team’s commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration within the universities of the TTU System. This project will renovate approximately 92,000 gross square feet of existing space and add 10,000 gross square feet in a new addition to Bolin Hall. The updated spaces will promote student interaction, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and open collaboration. This project will meet the programmatic needs of the sciences and math departments and enhance the overall learning environment, making Bolin Hall a cornerstone for innovation and learning within the university community.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC)
Preston Smith Library (PSL)
Renovation of the Preston Smith Library began on January 8, 2024, which reconfigured the entire third floor to enhance the academic environment at TTUHSC. This transformation included the addition of student study rooms, open study spaces with new furniture, a lobby vending area, and a tranquility room. Existing restrooms were also fully renovated. This project is significant as it modernized and expanded essential student facilities, creating a more supportive and enriching space for study and relaxation, and thus elevating the overall educational experience at TTUHSC.
5B West Research Lab Renovations
The 5B West Research Lab Renovations, currently in the Stage II design phase, will renovate approximately 14,000 square feet of research space on the fifth floor of the TTUHSC building. This project will transform existing research labs and support spaces into state-of-the-art flexible BSL2/BSL2+ laboratories by reconfiguring the floor plan, updating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and installing new furniture, finishes, and equipment. These upgrades are designed to decrease operating costs, enhance efficiency and functionality, and improve safety, security, and accessibility. This renovation is significant for TTUHSC as it will support advanced research capabilities, foster collaboration, and create an innovative environment for recruitment, reinforcing the center's commitment to excellence in biomedical research.
Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC) Expansion
The Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC) expansion will significantly enhance the facilities at TTUHSC. This project will add approximately 12,600 GSF to the LARC, incorporating innovative technologies and modern equipment to support the future needs of biomedical research. The expansion will feature a complete bio-exclusion (barrier) from the existing LARC, including a decontamination room and bulk autoclave to ensure the sterilization of consumables and equipment. This development is crucial for advancing and elevating biomedical research at TTUHSC, providing state-of-the-art resources for principal investigators and supporting the growing demands of the research community.
Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso
Cancer Center & Clinic
Two transformational projects at TTUHSC El Paso are aligning to form one monumental undertaking. For the first project, the Clinical Sciences Building, the existing 173,550 GSF facility is being replaced with a new, larger facility (approximately 234,000+ GSF). For the second project, the cancer center will construct a new 122,000+ GSF facility. These two projects total almost 357,000 gross square feet, spanning five levels.
The Clinical Sciences Building houses most of the existing clinical practices, including the Breast Care Center, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, Pathology, Pediatrics, Radiology, and Surgery, with subspecialties in Cardiothoracic, Urology, ENT, and Endocrinology. The facility will also add a non-oncology infusion center. Each specialty will have exam and procedure rooms supporting the clinical practices of the TTUHSC El Paso School of Medicine. Furthermore, the additional need for support areas for clinical operations (nurse stations, triage/vitals, labor and delivery support, medicine storage, clinical supply rooms, waiting areas, and other support spaces) is needed to educate world-class health specialists from the border plex.
The Comprehensive Cancer Center, a crucial part of TTUHSC El Paso’s campus evolution, will include an Imaging Center and an Oncology Center. These facilities will provide cancer screenings, improve treatments, and bring hope and comfort to El Paso and surrounding communities. Bringing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment support to building-wide operations and facilitating the operations of an infusion clinic, radiation, and medical oncology clinics, as well as all supporting elements, will ensure a comprehensive and patient-centered approach to cancer care.
The impact of these projects on our community members' lives fully exemplifies Texas Tech System’s and Texas Tech Health El Paso’s values.
We are excited to continue our work in advancing educational and research environments across the Texas Tech University System. Stay tuned for more updates on our projects and initiatives.
