Texas Tech University System ranked No. 46 out of the nation’s top 100 colleges and universities for fundraising efforts in an annual survey conducted by the Council for Aid to Education (CAE), the nation's sole source of empirical data on private giving to education.
In the 2010 Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) survey, Texas Tech University System placed ahead of schools such as Rice University, the University of Alabama, Michigan State University, the University of Tennessee and the University of Oklahoma, among many others.
“It is an honor to be included in this elite category of institutions,” said Chancellor
Kent Hance. “For five consecutive years, we have raised more than $100 million for
our universities thanks to the generosity of our great supporters and the hard work
of our development team.”
Over the last year, Texas Tech University System’s ranking in the VSE survey has
improved 14 spots, moving from No. 60 in 2009 to No. 46 in 2010.
“This ranking is very exciting and meaningful for us, as it reflects our tremendous efforts and the kind support from our Texas Tech family,” said Dr. Kelly Overley, vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement. “As we achieve our $1 billion goal in the Vision & Tradition campaign, we will not only continue to work our way to the top of this list, but also be securing the resources our institutions need to achieve their missions. ”
On Sept. 17, 2010, system officials announced the historic, $1 billion capital campaign, Vision & Tradition: The Campaign for Texas Tech. As of June 26, more than $775 million has been raised for the campaign to support student scholarships, faculty endowments, research efforts and facility expansions at the three component institutions, Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Angelo State University.
The VSE survey is the authoritative national source of information on private giving to higher education and private K-12, consistently capturing approximately 85 percent of the total voluntary support to colleges and universities in the United States. The survey is conducted entirely online and managed through CAE’s Data Miner interactive database service. CAE has managed the survey as a public service for over 50 years.
